1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser so it can remember something about you between pages or visits. Local storage is a similar feature that keeps data in your browser without sending it with every request. This policy explains which of these Tube Comment Search (the "Service") uses, and which are set by other companies whose services appear on our pages. It should be read with our Privacy Policy.
2. Our own cookies: none
The Service itself does not set any cookies. You do not need an account, and our visit statistics are recorded on our server without cookies, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
3. Storage on your device
| Name | Set by | Purpose | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
theme (local storage) | Tube Comment Search | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme. Only saved after you press the theme button, and removed if you switch back to your system's own setting. It never leaves your device. | Until you clear your browser data |
This is strictly necessary to provide a feature you asked for, so it does not need consent. Clearing your browser's site data removes it, and the site then follows your device's light or dark setting.
4. YouTube video player
When you load a video, we show it using YouTube's embedded player in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). In this mode YouTube says it does not store information about you to personalise your viewing unless you play the video. Once you press play, YouTube (Google) may set cookies or use local storage, for example to count views, remember player settings, measure performance and prevent abuse, and, if you are signed in to Google, to link the view to your account. These are set by Google under its own policies, last from the end of your browsing session to up to about two years, and are described in how Google uses cookies and the Google Privacy Policy. You can avoid them by not playing the embedded video, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser.
5. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
When ads are shown, we use Google AdSense. Google and its partners may set cookies, or use similar technologies such as local storage and device identifiers, on our pages to show ads, limit how often you see the same ad, measure how ads perform, detect fraud and, where allowed, show ads based on your interests and your visits to this and other websites. Common Google advertising cookies include IDE, DSID, __gads, __gpi, NID and test_cookie. Google sets these under its own control; most last between a few minutes and 13 months, and Google may change their names and lifetimes. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services and how Google uses cookies.
Consent in the EEA, UK and Switzerland. If you visit from these regions, Google's certified consent message (a Google consent management platform) asks you before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used. If you decline, Google may still show non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for purposes such as frequency capping, measurement and fraud prevention, where the law allows. You can change your choice at any time from the privacy or cookie link the message leaves on the page. Learn more about Google's consent message.
You can also opt out of personalised ads in any region:
- Google's Ads Settings (My Ad Center), which turns off personalised Google ads in your browser or account;
- aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu, to opt out of some other vendors' use of cookies for personalised ads.
6. Cloudflare
Our domain uses Cloudflare for DNS. If Cloudflare's network is used to protect or speed up the site, it may set strictly necessary security cookies such as __cf_bm (bot protection, 30 minutes) or cf_clearance (set after a security check, usually up to a few hours or days). These do not track you across websites and are needed to keep the site secure, so they do not need consent. See Cloudflare's cookie information.
7. Site administration
Our private statistics page is protected by your browser's built-in password prompt (HTTP Basic authentication), not by a cookie. It is only used by the site owner and sets nothing for other visitors.
8. How to control cookies
Besides the choices above, you can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Most browsers let you block third-party cookies only, which stops YouTube and advertising cookies while the Service keeps working. Blocking all storage means your theme choice will not be remembered. For step-by-step help, see allaboutcookies.org.
9. Changes
We may update this policy, for example if we add a feature that uses storage. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
