1. Overview
This policy explains what information Tube Comment Search (the "Service") accesses, stores and shares. The Service uses YouTube API Services. Google's handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy, and use of YouTube is covered by the YouTube Terms of Service.
2. No account or sign-in
The Service does not ask you to sign in with Google or YouTube and does not access your YouTube account or any private data in it. It only requests public data through the YouTube Data API.
3. Information we access through YouTube API Services
When you enter a video link, the Service requests from YouTube:
- public details of the video, such as its title, channel name and comment count;
- its public comments and replies, including each commenter's display name, profile picture link, channel link, comment text, date and like count;
- if you use "Search whole video", the search words you typed, which are sent to YouTube.
- for the image tools, a video's thumbnail links, or a channel's name, handle, profile picture links and banner link. When you download an image, our server fetches it from YouTube and passes it to you without keeping a copy.
4. How we use it
This data is used only to show and search comments, or show the images, for the video or channel you asked for. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or build profiles of commenters. Ads on the site are handled by Google, as described in section 7.
5. Storage and retention
To save YouTube API quota and load videos faster, our server keeps a temporary cache of YouTube API responses, stored per video. A cached response is used for at most 6 hours. After that it is treated as expired and is either refreshed from YouTube or deleted from the server within about an hour, so YouTube data is never kept longer than about 7 hours. Anyone can press "Refresh" on a video to replace its cached data immediately. Search words are stored only as part of the cached response they produced.
Our server does not keep request logs: it does not record visitors' IP addresses or the pages they visit. It only records error messages (for example, when a request to YouTube fails) for troubleshooting, and these are deleted after 14 days. Our domain's DNS is provided by Cloudflare, which may process connection data such as IP addresses under its own privacy policy.
If you use the contact form, your name, email address, subject, message and IP address are sent to us by email so we can reply. They are not stored on our server and are used only to answer you.
6. Cookies and storage on your device
Apart from the ads described in section 7, the Service does not use cookies or tracking. It saves your light or dark theme choice in your browser's local storage, which never leaves your device. The embedded YouTube video player is provided by YouTube and may set its own cookies or store information on your device; see the Google Privacy Policy.
7. Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show ads, which keeps the Service free. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet. See how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu. Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used, and can change that choice at any time from the privacy link shown on the page.
8. Sharing
We do not share information with third parties, except that requests are sent to YouTube (Google) to fetch data, Google receives the information described in section 7 when it shows ads, and where the law requires it.
9. Your choices
The Service does not have access to your Google account. If you have ever granted any app access to your Google account, you can review and revoke that access at any time on Google's security settings page: https://security.google.com/settings/security/permissions. If a comment of yours is deleted on YouTube, it disappears from the Service once the cache for that video expires (at most 6 hours) or is refreshed. To ask us to remove cached data sooner, contact us.
10. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their information.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
12. Contact
Questions or requests about privacy: [email protected], or use our contact form. See also our Terms of Use.
