    Frequently asked questions

How do I search the comments on a YouTube video?

Paste the video's link into Comment Search and press Load comments. Once the comments are loaded, type a word or phrase into the search box and only the comments and replies that contain it are shown, with the matches highlighted.

Can I find all the comments one person left on a video?

Yes. Turn on the option to include usernames, then type the person's name or @handle. You'll see every comment and reply they posted on that video.

Does it search replies as well as top-level comments?

Yes. Replies are loaded along with the comments, and you can choose to search the comments only or the comments and their replies.

Can I find old comments from a certain date?

Yes. Set a from and to date to see only the comments posted in that window, and sort oldest first to start from the beginning.

Is it free, and do I need to sign in?

It's completely free and works without an account or sign-in. It only shows public comments that anyone can see on YouTube.

Why can't I see the comments on some videos?

If the uploader has turned comments off, or the video is private or age-restricted, YouTube doesn't make its comments available, so there is nothing to load.
